D Axis & Q Axis In Motors

Good day to all

 

I am interested to know about direct axis (d axis) and quadrature axis (q axis) in a permanent magnet motor, and there are some parameters such as d axis inductance, d axis current and d axis voltage and similarly for q axis also, as i seen in some of articles, and these parameters are used to identify the rotor poles (unlike using encoders for pole position identification in permanent magnet motors). so can anybody share your knowledge in these topics?
