marke
Hello Rahul Have a look at http://www.lmphotonics.com/indIO.htm This page has not yet been finished, but it may help to answer your questions. Open collector stages can be NPN or PNP and effectively use a transistor as a switch which is open or closed. The open collector stage allows the output to be connected to circuits driven by a separate power supply and possibly a different voltage. With a PNP output stage, the positive terminal is common between the two supplies, while with an NPN output stage, the common terminal is the zero volt terminal.
